At first glance, Alexa may seem like just another tech toy. However, there are many benefits that come to people of all ages who own Alexas, or Echo. One group in particular that can be engaged by Alexa is people who suffer from dementia or early onset Alzheimer's. It can truly improve the quality of life for seniors with health problems and mobility problems. 

It is easy for a caregiver to become frustrated with dementia patients, as they often repeat questions, need to be constantly entertained, or become frightened and anxious when the caregiver is not around. Even though Alexa can not replace human touch, interaction, or real conversations, it can answer questions, discuss the latest news or today's weather, or play requested music.
